Dental Extraction

Dental Extraction

We always strive to save a tooth which can be salvaged. Unfortunately, it may not be possible to save a tooth if it has extensive decay, fracture of a part or severe mobility. Such a tooth may lead to infection of oral cavity and plays no supportive role for other remaining teeth as well. Under such circumstances, we may advise you for an extraction. It is an outpatient procedure that is done under local anesthesia and you may leave the dental office soon after the procedure.

At Ora Dental care, Mysuru, we try to make this experience as comfortable for you as possible. There are 2 types of dental extractions:
Simple – the tooth can be removed easily without need to cut any bone. It is done under local anesthesia and you can resume your daily work as soon as you leave the dental office

Surgical – this is required in cases where the tooth is partly or completely embedded in the jaw bone, has curved roots or is attached to the bone directly (Ankylosed). This procedure too is outpatient and done under local anesthesia, however, it entails removal of a part of the bone. Sutures are placed and you will be required to visit us again after a week for removal of the sutures. There may be slight swelling on the treatment side which should reduce in a day or two and should not be a cause of concern. Our surgeon will be more than willing to answer all your queries and allay your concerns regarding this procedure.
